My 2022 list of podcasts

Being a cross border worker in Luxembourg means that I have to spend lots of time stuck in my car for my daily commute. While that the past 2 years, due to Covid, remote working was the standard, this is unfortunately not the case anymore and I’m now back as where I was before; having to choose every morning between feeding my cats or spending extra time in my bed if I don’t want to arrive late at work. (be re-assured, if I try to spend extra time in my bed, I’ll start to have my toes bitten and I’ll be forced to bring food to those little monsters anyway).

So, how to take advantages of this lost time in traffic jam? Podcasts!

Very interesting podcast for web developers that is released twice a week, it covers various topic about latest web development tools / frameworks / trends and they answers question that you can submit. Really nice for your technological watch.

Stack Overflow podcast

I don’t need to present Stack Overflow; however you might not know that they produce a weekly podcast. This is all about software development, learning to code, and the art and culture of computer programming. They often receive interesting guests, such as authors of a framework, CEO / CTO of companies, lead developer in big tech companies, and so on.

The Vergecast

The Vergecast is the flagship podcast from The Verge about small gadgets, Big Tech, and everything in between. Very useful to stay informed about latest tech releases but also discussion about how a technology might affect our lives, in a positive of negative way.

Stuff you should know

Unrelated to the tech and developer world, Stuff you should know is a very popular podcast, which generates more than 5 millions monthly downloads. It covers a wide variety of very different topics, often using popular culture as a reference, giving the podcast comedic value. To give an idea of the kind of different topics this podcast covers, just read at their description "If you've ever wanted to know about champagne, satanism, the Stonewall Uprising, chaos theory, LSD, El Nino, true crime and Rosa Parks, then look no further. Josh and Chuck have you covered."

The Daily is a news podcast produced by the The New York Times and episodes are based on reports from the newspaper, their YouTube channel, and integrate interviews of journalists. Reports are varied and do not only concern topics about the USA.

Sixième Science

This podcast is about science popularisation and it is produced by the French newspaper "20 Minutes" and monthly popular French science magazine "Sciences et Avenir". Sciences topics cover space, health, astronomy, and nature. It is only available in French.

France culture podcasts

France culture proposes a wide series of podcasts covering various topics; you’ll for sure, find something to listen to that will suit you. It goes from historical podcast such as "Le cours de l’histoire" to scientific podcast "La méthode scientifique" passing by tech news "Les Nouvelles du Meilleur des mondes". It is also in French only, but it really worths your time.
